Dispatch from Daycare

January 28, 2009

When I get pictures like this sent to me from the lovely ladies at daycare, I know my boy is in good hands.  They are fabulous.  Just saying.

More birthday fun and an FO

January 27, 2009

The night after the super fun at Darcelle XV, the fam took my sister out to dinner to celebrate her birthday.  After that, we all came back to my parents’ house for birthday cake from the Konditorei (YUM).  Here is a shot of the birthday girl (and yes, we did make her hold her own cake).

And now for the FO:

blog-002(Please ignore the end that is obviously sneaking out, I did fix it eventually.)

Pattern: Reversible Cable Scarf (Ravel it!)

Yarn: Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Superbulky

Needles: US11

Started: January 17

Finished: January 20

I made this scarf for a friends’ Mom.  My friend recently lost her Dad, her Mom lost her husband.  I thought the least I could do was knit her something that might lend her some comfort and warmth.  This seemed like a good choice, simple yet unique and interesting.

Big men in sparkly dresses

Guess where I went tonight?  Darcelle XV!

We went there for Lyndsay’s birthday, and it was fabulous.

Here she is with Darcelle herslef (himself?)!

And a shot of the pre-show action inside.

Sorry for the crappy pictures, I was not smart enough to grab my camera, so the phone is all I had with me.  I tried to take pictures of the show, but they turned out even worse than these.

I think it was a huge birthday party success for Lyndsay.  It seemed that way to me at least.  I bought her a drink (as did a few others) and she seemed to really have a good time.  I know I did.

Happy birthday Lyndsay!  Way to get older with style.

Just one of the girls…

Jaxon saw that the girls at daycare were getting their hair put into pony tails and he wanted one too!

Very fetching on him, wouldn’t you agree?

My Big Morning

January 18, 2009

J and I were out and about this morning running a few errands and on our way home he fell asleep in the car.  He has been sick lately and I wanted to let him get a good nap in, so I decided that we would just hang in the car while he slept.

While the Tater napped

I knit,

so I didn’t suffer too much.

Also, while I was sitting there knitting and listening to a baby snore (yes, he was snoring, he always does when he is congested), I was listening to NPR.  There I was innocently enjoying This American Life when I heard it.  Some guy belching the name of our president-elect, Barrack Obama.  Yes.  He burped it.  On NPR.

I am sure his family is proud…

Pointless Picture of J

January 16, 2009

Here we are waiting for the doctor.  J is always happy to play on the vinyl table and smile at himself in the mirror.  And it doesn’t hurt that he gets to be naked while doing all that.  (Please forgive the crappy picture, my phone tries hard.)

We were in the owl room (as you can probably see in the backround).

Jaxon’s famous!

January 15, 2009

Okay, so not nearly that famous again, but still.  He has been featured.

Okay, well even that is a stretch…

Anyway, on my and pretty much everyone else’s favorite knitting/crochet website, Ravelry, J’s picture has been featured as the main picture for a pot holder I crocheted for my Mom for Christmas.  (No, I did not blog about it, pot holders tend to be a little more than completely brain numbing.)

Here is the picture that is featured in all it’s glory!

For those of you who have an account with Ravelry, you can see this in it’s featured setting here.

Aren’t you impressed?

Things I didn’t expect.

January 8, 2009

– J gets more fun AND more full of attitude everyday, and I LOVE it despite the tantrums.

– Just me and 2 very small dogs in a full size bed is VERY crowded.

– It would be much easier to get over losing my husband of 6 years than losing my best friend of 12 (same person).

– J knows when I need a hug and cuddles willingly, but anytime I try to steal a hug when I don’t need it he will not allow it.

– I am getting tired of watching NCIS repeats (damn you USA network!).

– The first (and only) person to see the house submitted an offer, and if all goes as planned, the house will close about 60 days after it was put on the market.

I think J got into a gang fight last night while I was sleeping…

January 5, 2009

Okay, so probably not a gang fight.  But you can see why I might think that, right?  He woke up this morning looking like this.

I didn’t just take pictures.  After I got done documenting the carnage on film, I did take him to the doctor.  They think it is an infection in his eyelid and now he is on antibiotics.

I will keep you posted!

(No babies were harmed in the making of this post.  Despite his scary appearance, he is happy and doesn’t seem to notice the giant eyelid that has taken over his face and has remained his jolly self.)

(Don’t you think he kinda looks like a pirate like this?  I was totally calling him my little pirate in the waiting room at the pediatrician.)

J’s Favorite Game

January 4, 2009

These days, one of J’s favorite games is putting something into something and then taking it back out.  Sounds thrilling, doesn’t it?  His current favorite thing to put things in and out of is the dogs’ kennels.  I think it is the easy open door and his ability to see through he bars at what he has put in there.

These pictures (and many many more) were taken over the course of about 20 minutes of this game.  This is a LONG time to do one activity for J.  He LOVES it!  And of course, it is makes it just that much better when he doesn’t have any clothes on.  🙂

Looks thrilling, doesn’t it?
