Things I didn’t expect.

January 8, 2009

– J gets more fun AND more full of attitude everyday, and I LOVE it despite the tantrums.

– Just me and 2 very small dogs in a full size bed is VERY crowded.

– It would be much easier to get over losing my husband of 6 years than losing my best friend of 12 (same person).

– J knows when I need a hug and cuddles willingly, but anytime I try to steal a hug when I don’t need it he will not allow it.

– I am getting tired of watching NCIS repeats (damn you USA network!).

– The first (and only) person to see the house submitted an offer, and if all goes as planned, the house will close about 60 days after it was put on the market.

It’s that time of year.

November 16, 2008

Here at our house, we are prepping for the holiday season.  That means, we have started putting the lights up!  Now, I know for most, that usually means just a few strands around the garage door or along the front of the roof line.  But, for our family, it is a production.

Since we have so many sets of lights, the easiest way to store them from year to year is on a spool.  We put that spool on a broom between our recycling and yard debris cans and unspool the lights.  This is the best and fastest way we have found to store our lights from year to year and avoid tangles.  (This process makes putting the lights away much easier too.)

Once wound off the spool, we stage them (G is all about staging) on the driveway in individual sets.  Once we have a few, we chuck them up onto the roof for installation.

Then, it is up onto the roof to get these puppies attached!  (I was up there most of the time too, just not while I was taking photos.)

In the following picture, please ignore the pumpkin on the porch, which has yet to be removed following Halloween.

And of course, because it is G, here he is checking his email on his iPhone while on the roof.

Are you as excited about Christmas as we are?  🙂

Happy Veteran’s Day

Please take a moment to remember what they have done for us.  (And enjoy these pictures of G in Iraq.)

November 6, 2008

Okay, I am a little late with this, but better late than never, huh?

If you know us, you will not be surprised that G decided to be a Jedi Knight and then J was Yoda of course!

The evening was tough for J, so he took a little Yoda nap on the couch.  🙂

I think J really liked being part of the Star Wars world.  He loves the taste a light saber!

My Weekend – A Few Things

August 4, 2008

In list format for your convenience:

-Saturday G, J, and I went to the Red Bull Flugtag (videos of the crazy action here). We met Amy and Sonia there and had a great time. Jaxon was a total champ, only getting a little fussy when he was ready for a nap (which he did for well over an hour among the loud music and crowd!) and when he was hungry. My plan was to have lots of fun pictures of the action, but someone *cough*G*cough* forgot to charge the camera battery (even though a friendly reminder/request was given the night before) so no pictures. Amy came well equipped with her camera, so I will see pictures of the event (or at least of J being cute at the event) sooner or later, but geez.

-On Sunday Lyndsay hung out with us for the whole day, woo hoo! (Go eager Auntie who changes diapers!) She had warned us she was coming the week before, but it was a fun surprise to see her in J’s room when he woke up and I sent G in to get him. (No, he is not my slave, I got up 2 hours before to feed J, it was G’s turn!) She claims she did not actually wake him up (she is known for being eager for nap time to end) but G and I have our doubts! 🙂

-That morning, we went over to my parent’s house where we took the treadmill they were so generous to give us, then took a load of old chairs and boxes over to my grandpa’s house using our huge grocery-getter.

-Later, we dropped the boy off at my parent’s house and G and Lyndsay and I went to Starbucks (Lyndsay and I knit, G played with his new iPhone 3G). Um, is it sad that both G and I at one point panicked because we thought we had left the baby somewhere since he wasn’t with us? I think we need to take advantage of the grandparents more often and learn to have baby-free time where we don’t feel so weird. I think it is about time for that, given he is 7.5 freakin’ months old. (Okay, now I feel like a loser. I apparently need a life.)

-On the way out of the parking lot of Starbucks, I decided that G was my “huzzle” and Lyndsay was my “sizzle.” I am so hip.

-We stopped off at Target to look for a “Mom Bag” for me, but instead left with straw cups for J (he loves the sippy cups he has, but mainly just lets the water run out of his mouth and down his front). We were hoping the straw cups would stop this since he would have to work to get the water.

-We headed back to the ‘rents to have dinner and see the boy. My mom made Lasagna (I love having free babysitting from the same person who also spent that time cooking me dinner, thanks Mom!) and J napped while I ate so I could actually sit at the table and eat it warm like a human! (He always seems to wake and want to nurse just as we sit down at the table…)

-Success with the new straw cup for J. He loves it!

-After leaving there, our little group continued the search for my “Mom Bag.” Okay, let me explain the “Mom Bag” thing. I pick J up from daycare and we take the bus home 3 nights a week. I needed a bag that would allow me to carry his cooler, my cooler, my lunch bag and my purse all in one unit. I think my days of small purses are gone for a while. Anyway, I found a sherpani bag that I loved and so the “Mom Bag” was born. (We will not discuss how my bag is on sale at 50% online and was not where we bought it. It is too late and I am too lazy.)

-We got a new carrier for J! The one we have now is not so pleasant for long time periods and we wanted something that was more comfy and would let us go to things without the stroller (so annoying in crowds). It is huge but comfy, and the best part is that J loves it. He was giggling uncontrollably in the store while we were trying it. I think he likes the view from up there!

Okay, this post is huge. I did not plan that. If you made it down to the bottom, you have more patience for useless information that I would. How was your weekend?

And I’m at work…

July 30, 2008

I received another dispatch about the Wednesday fun-having from G this morning. He and J went to participate in a study (same one as mentioned here) and then have lunch with my sister.

Here is J waiting patiently in the waiting room for his test.

He is such a big boy, playing with toys on the floor!

J’s First Trip to the Beach

July 27, 2008

It is very important to dress appropriately for the beach.  Here is J showing G the outfit he chose.

Here are G and J standing at the beach for the first time!

We went to the beach for a company picnic for G’s work.  While G went to fetch us food, Jaxon and I hung out and he played with his tiny Converse!

After dinner, we went back down to the beach to enjoy the fabulous view.

We had a great time.  Can you tell that J loved the beach?

Jaxon loves the Arts

July 20, 2008

Jaxon is a strong supporter of the arts.  First, he was a big part of the parade that starts our city’s local art fair this weekend.

He is the one on the left.

See, huge part of the parade.

He then was kind enough to actually attend the art fair the next day and enjoy some of the artsy goods.

Okay, so the goods weren’t that artsy, more sugary really, and he didn’t really enjoy it.  But he did watch G and I enjoy it!  That counts for something, doesn’t it?

After all of that activity this weekend, he requested we spend a day just relaxing at home.  So today, we did what he wanted to again.  (This boy just RULES our lives!)

We just chilled on the couch and Jaxon chewed on his snail chewy (by the way, Jaxon has his first tooth!) and the remote.

Good times.

My Boys

July 10, 2008

On Wednesdays, my boys stay at home (G works four 10-hour days now and Wednesday is his extra day off) and play while I have to go to work (poo!).

I guess yesterday G wanted to point out to me how much fun they were having at home without me. He sent me this picture.

My happy boys:

Please ignore the uber mess in the background. Pay attention only to the fun-having boys. Also note one of my furry boys in the lower left corner, blurry from motion!

G must have been bored, he sent me this picture as well.

My evil, freaky boys:

It is so nice of G to remind me throughout the day how much fun they are having at home without me! 🙂

We are alive.

July 7, 2008

We are all alive. J is getting over a fun little stage (the puking has ceased). We will all be well very soon. Sorry I haven’t been here in a while. Unless being too lazy to upload the pictures from your camera is now a good excuse to not blog, I have no good excuse. But to make up for it, I do have good pictures to show you.

We went to the Zoo! J’s first trip there. Although I am not sure he knew he was there or that there were animals (okay, I am pretty sure he didn’t), I do know he had a great time! Want proof?

Here are G and J enjoying the sights together.

Here is J cooling off with our water bottle (it was freakin’ hot the day we went).

Oh, did you want a picture of animals to prove we were actually at the zoo?

Here. Hippo butts!

That is all for now. I will end this post with one of the cutest pictures of J yet.

The strainer tops it off nicely, don’t you think?
