FO: Stripey Socks (My First Socks!)

August 8, 2009

Pattern: Wendy’s Generic Toe Up Socks (Ravel it!)

Yarn: Knit Picks Felici, Providence

Needles: US2

Started: May 25

Finished: August 7

My first pair of socks.  And they fit!  I love the stripes.  It is true what they say about hand knitted socks, they are magical.  So comfy and warm!  I ended up having to add in calf shaping since there was so much yarn, they got so tall!  I am going to start another pair soon.  I need a collection now!

I have been a bit busy…

February 4, 2009

So, I have been meaning to get here, to give an update, but things have been a bit busy.  J has been sick (yay double ear infections!) and I have moved out of one house, camped at my parents’ house for the weekend, and then moved into my new house (yesterday)!  Woo!

Here is what my new living room looked like right after we got done unloading everything from the truck.

pic-0070_1(Sorry for the crappy cell phone picture, but if you think I have any idea where that tiny card reader is to download pictures from my good camera, you are crazy!)

I wish I had an after picture from later that evening because it is amazing how much got done I think!  It is practically done!

Edited to add: After picture!!!

Now, I just have to get to IKEA to get some storage furniture for my stuff.  I got rid of a good half of everything that was in the house, but there still is stuff (like a HUGE box full of yarn, and another smaller but still large box full of needles and knitting bags!) that has no home for now.  The issue with this new house is that there is NO storage.  Really.  There is a full closest in J’s room (good for all his baby gear like backpack carrier and portable crib) and then I have half a closet in my room (the new furnace is taking up the other half).  Other than the kitchen cabinets and a tiny corner cabinet in J’s bathroom, there is no where else to hid my stuff.

I am really sad that I have to go to IKEA and buy fun new stuff.  Really.  I am. I swear.  I hate IKEA.  (Just in case the sarcasim isn’t obvious here, none of that last sentence is even close to true.)  🙂

I went shopping too!

March 6, 2008

K did such a great job with her shopping booty, I didn’t want to be left out!

Clockwise from the left: Cotton Fleece in Sedona Red (the project on top is the start of the Cropped Cardigan with leaf ties from Fitted Knits), Knit One Crochets Too’s Ty-Dy in Pumkin Garden (destined to be some kind of cute piece of baby clothing for J inspired by the sweater that K made him out of Ty-Dy), Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino in fuchsia (previously featured here as the start of the ill-fated lace scarf), Cascade Yarns Pima Tencel in color 1694 (no idea what this will be for, some kind of tank maybe?), Knit Picks Shine Sport in Orchid (see here for plans for this yarn), and the two balls are some cotton mill ends that I picked up (no idea what these will be either…).

The Cotton Fleece, Ty-Dy and mill ends were purchased at Soft Horizons Fibre in Eugene. I bought the Cashmerino and Pima Tencel at Boersma’s Knitting Basket in McMinnville.

Other recent purchases not pictured include a set of Knit Picks Options Harmony Wood Needles (I am totally in love!) and the Crochet Me pattern book.

I love yarn shopping, but now comes the hard part of figuring out where to put all of this new stuff!
